The legal proceedings at the Labour Court
After the law suit has been filed, it is sent to the opposing party.
Approximately three weeks after you file the law suit there will be an initial hearing. This is called the conciliation hearing.
You will receive a written summons for this hearing. The objective of a conciliation hearing is, if in any way possible, to reach a mutual agreement between you and the opposing party.
Usually, the following people attend the conciliation hearing:
- a judge
- you and your lawyer
- the opposing party and/or his/her lawyer
f you and the opposing party cannot come to a mutual agreement, there will be another hearing, the so-called court hearing.
The following people attend the court hearing:
- a judge
- two honorary judges, called honorary assessors, consisting of one employer and one employee.
- you and/or your lawyer
